Frank and Joe Show at The Lyric.

I went to see The Frank and Joe Show at The Lyric here in Blacksburg this evening. Frank and Joe Show They put on quite a good show. I bought their one and only album, 33 1/3, some months ago, and I’ve found it quite addictive. The performed the songs that I most wanted to hear — “Don’t Fence Me In” and “Spiderman,” though not “Sheik of Araby.” (It wouldn’t have made much sense with Dr. John, anyhow.) Both members — the percussionist and the guitarist — are impressive to hear on an album, but to see them play is even better. The guitarist, Frank, is of talent approaching Tim Reynolds, and the percussionist, Joe, is rather unlike anyone I’ve ever seen play drums.

I left halfway through the show, though, just like the last show that I saw at The Lyric, which was also at a finals-taking time of the semester. There’s too much work to do.
