Goodlatte as Secretary of Agriculture?

Ann Veneman resigned as Secretary of Agriculture. Bush has to appoint a replacement. Lacking any obvious executive-level people to appoint, he’ll likely turn to known leaders. Some have already been named, but overlooked is Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-06) of Virginia. He is, after all, the chair of the House Committee on Agriculture. Might Virginia have an open seat? Is there any talent in Roanoke, Harrisonburg, or Lynchburg ready to run, on either side?
