“Leave our homos alone.”

The Washington Post had a great story in their Sunday issue, about a gay teenager in Oklahoma. He’d been the subject of a series of articles in the Post about what it’s like to be gay in the Bible Belt. In response, “Christian” minister Fred Phelps, who heads up Kansas’ notorious Westboro Baptist (of godhatesfags.com fame), announced that his church would be picketing the gay teenager’s church. These hateful bastards thought that they could tear apart the town and “destroy” this high school student for the crime of being gay. The trick, it turned out, was on Phelps & Co.

The protests backfired. An Oklahoma town of 18,500 is now more tolerant. A victory for genuine Christian values.
