Mouse, pocket, etc.

From Friday night’s debate:

We all thought there was weapons there, Robin. My opponent thought there was weapons there. That’s why he called him a grave threat. I wasn’t happy when we found out there wasn’t weapons, and we’ve got an intelligence group together to figure out why.

We all thought there were weapons there? (Or “was weapons,” in Bush’s pidgin English.) That’s a funny thing, because I distinctly recall taking part in the single largest protest in history, along with over 10M other people, on February 15, 2003. Based on the chants, the signs, and the conversations, it was clear a whole lot of us felt that the chance of WMDs was iffy, at best, and many believed that it was a wholly invented excuse by Bush.

It’s bad enough that President Bush spends so much time trying to rewrite history to make his many mistakes appear justifiable, but I find this attempt to nullify the protests particularly offensive.
