Virginia House of Delegates member Rob Bell (R-Albemarle) did something nice, and he really, really wants everybody to know about it. Del. Bell is donating his overtime pay to public schools in his district. What he doesn’t mention is that the reason that he got overtime pay was that his attempt to prevent the state from passing a budget sufficient to meet its expenses failed, and in the process he and a handful of conservative extremists dragged out the General Assembly session for an extra two months, resulting in his being awarded overtime pay. What he additionally failed to mention that is that reason that he has to donate his money to area schools is because he’s underfunding them so severely.
So, uh, thanks, Del. Bell.
