Every time that I’m gone from Blacksburg for more than a few days — Thanksgiving, Christmas, spring break over the past 10 days — it is such a disappointment to come back here. Blacksburg and Virginia Tech aren’t bad, but, for me, they comprise a world that has had all sense of possibility and interest sucked out of it. Eat, go to class and regurgitate facts, eat, sleep, repeat. All talk, no action. Blah.
