Scrubbing the voter list.

I remain appalled by the 2000 election debacle in Florida, and I periodically feel the need to remind myself exactly how bald-faced the whole rip-off was. It’s all too easy to think “well, that’s behind us now; the courts settled it.” Only they never considered the real matter, which was that of some 55,000 voters being turned away at the polls in Palm Beach and Gore losing the election by some 500 votes in that very city. It is, of course, how those 55,000 people came to be turned away that’s interesting.

For those looking for a reminder, I recommend watching this brief movie (note: big download, music, a little over the top) that explains exactly how this feat was pulled off.
