Casey tears it up.

Amber and I went to see Paul Casey at Starr Hill on Saturday night. Damn. About 100 people showed up, and I don’t imagine that anybody left disappointed. He played one set acoustic that was as good as ever, and then one set electric, which was amazing. He’d gotten a couple of local guys (with whom he had never so much as rehearsed, and whose names he kept forgetting) to play bass and drums, and their improvisation was just excellent. The crowd was entirely engaged, particularly with the closing song, “Weight,” on which he just tore up his Strat. He’s got a fluency on electric that is unlike anything that I’ve ever seen. This was the fifth time that I’d seen him perform, but the first time that I’d seen him on electric or with a band. I certainly hope that he finds himself on this side of the Atlantic again before long, Fender in tow.
