Blogging very wirelessly.

I was excited a couple of months ago when I got wireless set up in my apartment, but I’ve discovered something just about as cool: connecting over my cell phone. I have a Motorola v60i, a pretty basic CDMA/AMPS PCS, and I recently got a cable that allows me to connect it to my computers. I’m really enjoying having the ability to synchronize my calendar and contact data between my computers and my phone, but what’s even cooler is that I can use my phone as a modem. I’m connected right now not via Ethernet to my home network, nor 802.11b to my home network, but via a dial-up connection, thanks to having my phone connected to my iBook through the USB cable. I’ve got a whopping 12Kbps connection, or roughly 25% of the speed of the average modem-based connection, so the bandwidth is nothing to write home about. But the fact that I can now get Internet connectivity from anywhere with a cellular signal is totally cool. What a great new toy.
