Bishop Allen

I got Bishop Allen‘s Charm School in the mail today. It’s quite lovely. Listening to it makes me happy. My favorite song so far is “Bishop Allen Drive,” but it’s the fourth track and I’ve only heard the first four tracks, so that’s subject to change. Their existence reminds me of Talking Heads — a bunch of smart people that figured that they could probably make some nice music, if they put their collective mind to it.

NPR’s Weekend Edition had a great piece about Bishop Allen last week, and Rolling Stone gave Charm School four stars. I think they’re as good as True Love Always, which is really saying something.

If you’d like to, you can listen to some of their music. Alternately, you could not. That’s up to you.
