Video of Laurence Verga’s racist remarks about the president.

For the record, here is a video clip of congressional candidate Laurence Verga’s racist remarks about President Obama:

This doesn’t add new information, but it does prevent anybody from claiming that his remarks are being taken out of context, as I understand his supporters are claiming. This is an excerpt from the Lynchburg Tea Party’s video of the entire debate, provided by member Kurt Feigel. See it in a larger context still, if you’re interested.

  1. I put up the news report from WSET 13 on my blog, shortly after someone suggested it to me as a possible location.

I too have found no credibility in the supposed ‘apology’ from Verga or his campaign, since it has only been rumored to have been said. (The only instance that I can find as a comment on this blog the other day)

  2. No matter what he says, he was saying that people who voted for Obama are the biggest national security threat to America. The rest of the answer is rambling incoherence.

  3. Did you put up the correct video? What were the “racist remarks” about Obama?

  4. I. Publius please read previous post about these remarks. It’s a tab subtle but you can get it.
“The biggest threat is ourselves” that’s pretty clear.
“not the people in this room” clear again
“But the people that voted for the current adminstration”
Anyone who voted for Obama (most of the country) is a threat to america. “Political correctness gone amok” code words for because he was black or more gently “white guilt”

  5. You’ve got to be kidding! I was there. I’ve also seen the entire video not this cherry picked piece. “Not the people in this room” those being tea party conservatives(There were black people there) He was talking about Obama Voters. If because some of those happen to be Black that doesn’t make this a racist comment.

You are making Verga’s point for him “political correctness run amok” Because 95% of black voters, voted for Obama you make the assumption that 100% of the white people that didn’t vote for him are racist. Therefore you further conclude that anyone that disagrees with him is racist. Typical Liberal Idiocy!

FYI: I’m not a Verga supporter. Can’t really see ever voting for him. He did a terrible job at that debate. The guy can’t communicate.

  6. So Hank, you think that the majority of Virginians and the majority of Americans and virtually half the 5th District are a bigger national security threat than Al-Qaeda, or the Taliban, or Iran?

  7. Because 95% of black voters, voted for Obama you make the assumption that 100% of the white people that didn’t vote for him are racist. Therefore you further conclude that anyone that disagrees with him is racist. Typical Liberal Idiocy!

Wow, that would be really damning if I’d said, implied, or believed any of those things. Since I didn’t, though, I don’t have the foggiest idea of what you’re talking about.

You’re using a pseudonym out of “Atlas Shrugged?” And misspelling it? Really?

  8. You implied racism where I don’t believe there is any. I was illustrating why this is. The Democratic party is the party of racism. They are the party that always brings up the color of a persons skin. They are the ones that have a “former” Klansman in their ranks. They are the ones that just threw a black guy under the bus in NY so they could have a white person run.

Funny. none of the conservative bloggers have caught the pseudonym. Good one. it’s spelled right.

  9. You implied racism where I don’t believe there is any. I was illustrating why this is.

No, you weren’t—you were ascribing opinions to me that I possess that are not prerequisites for anything that I wrote. I did not “make the assumption that 100% of the white people that didn’t vote for [Obama] are racist,” nor had the thought ever crossed my mind. Likewise, I did not “further conclude that anyone that disagrees with him is racist.” I never said anything of the sort. You completely made that up.

If you’re going to disagree with me, that’s great, go for it. But disagree with something that I actually said, and not things that you wish I’d said.

Funny. none of the conservative bloggers have caught the pseudonym. Good one. it’s spelled right.

    It’s “Rearden.” Two “e”s. No “o.” I promise.
