So, you purposely misused the semicolon in your comment? You may have been being ironic; I’m bad at spotting irony sometimes.

I suppose a colon would be the appropriate punctuation there.

It’s waffling irony. :) People often fail to employ semicolons because they don’t know where to use them. And when they are used, they often end up getting used where something else will do more nicely, like an emdash, a colon, or an ellipsis. I got midway through that sentence, realized that I wasn’t sure what was right, and decided that I just had to use a semicolon as a result. :)

Better is the enemy of good enough; and the curse of a first time homebuilder. Put the solar shingles on your outbuilding; your stand-alone test rack, and later, the self-sufficient man-cave.

I love the semi-colon; the super comma!

I am not shocked at all by the comments of Lt. Governor, Andre Bauer; and I am shocked that anyone else is. This (not giving nor feeding the poor as a method for slowing their reproduction) has been an idea floating around conservative circles for at least a couple of decades. I personally first heard it from relative moderates in upstate New York in 1980 or 1981.

I actually bought stock in Energy Conversion Devices because of their large panel market and their subsidiary, Uni-Solar (mentioned in the Dow piece), because of their solar shingle work. Bonus: Uni-solar is a Michigan company. U.S. is gaining back on China in the solar game.

I didn’t know Dow was in the solar shingle game. And it’s interesting that Dow just got a ton of DOE money to research batteries for the automotive industry too. Gee, you think anyone is considering cross over technology there? I’d like to invest in Dow, but they have too much history and way too much liability for my fun money.

What? A South Carolina Republican said something stupid and offensive? No, really? Good thing he is probably a staunch “pro lifer” hey!

Given we are talking about SC, I am sure Mr. Bauer is raising money “hand over fist” at this very moment!

I’m surprised Bauer didn’t go all Jonathan Swift on poor people…
