  1. I’m confused. What’s parallel? Is it how high Jindal and his potential is above Kilgore, even if he had won in 2005.

  2. I heard Jindal was trashed for his response speech. Hadn’t caught Kilgore on TV. I heard Jindal did much better on the Today show and other post-speech interviews, which is probably his strength.

  3. Jindal’s rebuttal was the first time that I’d seen him speak, and it was a bit eerie. I think I actually burst out laughing. He’s Louisiana’s very own Jerry Kilgore, albeit he became governor where Kilgore did not.

  4. “Mr. Rogers is the primary point of reference for each.”

Waldo, were you out tonight, somehow, w/my friends? Because we had a good half hour discussion about how Bobby Jindal is Mr. Rogers. (I believe we referred to his speech as the “Bobby Jindal Fun Happy Fun Time Show” at one point, and other things not fit to re-print here.).

  5. Just comparing him Kilgore, without any solid reasoning behind it? If baseless smearing is the best you’ve got to bash a rising, minority star in the Republican Party, you must be pretty desperate.

  6. Wait, so, it’s official that comparing anyone to Kilgore is a “smear” and a “bash”? When did you guys figure out what a dope that guy is? Was it before or after he lost to Kaine?

Anyway, I’m not sure you can call Jindal a rising star in the Republican Party right now. That was a terrible performance on his part that has a lot of people ruling him out. He may still be a player on the national stage, but I think he took a lot of wind out of his own sails that night.

  7. He’s only 37. He’s got lots of time to rise, probably 2016 instead of 2012. And if the Republicans upset Obama in 2012, he’s young enough to run into the mid 2030s. Plenty of time to gain experience.

  8. I thought Parallels was a virtual machine suite to run Windows on a Mac? Is there now a Jindel version?

  9. I’ll take Kilgore, Rogers or Jindal over, say, Al Gore in lecture mode. Now there’s a guy whose voice will drive you nuts.

  10. Now Jon, C’mon now. What we oughta do is take all of the social security money, and put it in a *slow way down to make sure your audience comprehends* “Lock Box.” Ah, the memories of Saturday Night Live parodies…

  11. Waldo –

You have an unhealthy fixation on Kilgore. You bashed him and smeared him in 2005. Now here it is 2009 and you’re trying to smear him again.

Jindal’s appearance may have been a little wooden, but I bet you’ll see him again in another couple of presidential cycles.

But really — leave Kilgore alone. He is no longer a public official.

Perhaps you’re not familiar with political blogs, Robert. Let me explain. We write about politics. So, in 2005, Kilgore and Kaine were the candidates for governor. So political bloggers—and see if you can follow me here—wrote about Kilgore and Kaine. And now I mention him four years later and you called it “an unhealthy fixation”?

Now here it is 2009 and you’re trying to smear him again.

Am I? Where in that eleven-word blog entry did I “try to smear him”?

He is no longer a public official.

So? The guy was AG and the Republican nominee for governor. It’s not appropriate to bring up Kilgore or his campaign to compare to current political events?

You know who else is no longer a public official? Ronald Reagan. You get Republicans to stop talking about him and I’ll stop talking about Kilgore.
