Maybe Goode spent -$1M on the race?

Virgil Goode complains that Tom Perriello outspent him by $3,000,000. Does anybody have the faintest idea of what he’s talking about? Does this have some basis in crazy-math, or did Goode just invent this astronomical figure?

I think Virgil is trying to say (again) that out of state money made the difference in this race.

Which would be wrong. His own behavior and performance over the years led to his downfall.

Watkins Abbitt is next.

Yeah, but $3M? That’s really an enormous amount of money. I have a hard time believing that.

According to Swing State Project, independent spending for Perriello was a little over $720K. Goode is just making stuff up.

Thanks so much for that link, Vivian. That’s a number that I’ll buy. $3M is just crazy talk.

Yeah, I’ve been watching that link for a while. It’s been a good source of spending.

Is he counting all Democratic money (including Warner and Obama) spent in the 5th as being spent against him?

Waldo and everybody,

I had put this link in a comment on October 28th, the day over $200,000 was allocated on top of $400k already being spent.

My guess is that Tom had more runs of his commercials, and that’s the difference between the 600k+ and the final figure.

I had thought you saw that link, Waldo.
