Ten most prolific political bloggers.

It was two months ago that I moved Virginia Political Blogs to WordPress, which means that now I have a two-month corpus of blog entries to perform some statistical analysis on at some point. There have been 7,778 posts since February 8, or 130 posts per day. 2,563 of those posts, or one third, came from ten people. They’re listed here, from most to least prolific, identified by the name under which their blog entries appear:

  1. Just a Bump in the Beltway: 439
  2. Lowell: 319
  3. Doug Mataconis: 284
  4. Chris (Mason Conservative): 252
  5. Greg L: 225
  6. notlarrysabato: 225
  7. Riley, Not O’Reilly: 223
  8. Ward: 219
  9. Michael Oliver: 189
  10. Extreme Mortman: 188

That’s a lot of blog entries. For comparison, I’ve posted 3,799 blog entries on this particular blog since August 1999, an average of 93 per sixty days.

  1. Prolific? What about doing a post on the top ten most truthful bloggers, the ones who can back up their posts with hard facts and legitimate news articles? Are you afraid you might not even make your own list?

But what do I know? I mean, I got the Dog’s head chopped off.

  2. Well. Geeze=, Waldo, couldn’t you set up a list of the least prolific, too? I’m feeling very much ignored! LOL

Oh, I know: a list of the most prolific life-bloggers! I’ll be at the top *snicker*

    Hope your Easter was wonderful….

  3. I forget the rules. Are there too many conservatives on that list for your count to be right? Besides how can you count posts without factoring in traffic? Clearly these numbers are just plain wrong. As long as Vivian and Bearing Drift aren’t on the list, I am going to assuming this “counting” thing you are doing is a left-wing plot. “Counting” is probably as reliable as the THEORY of “evolution.”

  4. You know whats frustrating though? I could spend a lot of time putting something good together and fee really proud about it, you know? But I get nothing in terms of feed back. I could put something up that it took me six seconds to do and not think about, and BAM, its the most popular thing I ever wrote. So its weird.

  5. Totally hear ya Chris. I think that’s probably one of the most annoying trends in blogging.

Wow… I haven’t posted on my blog since March 29th and haven’t posted anything meaty since March 6. How does that rank me on the “slacker” list?

  6. Chris – You’re exactly right. It’s frustrating and really hurts bloggers who put time and effort into their posts. But it’s also where aggregators really come into play and help spread the good word.
