Der Spiegel provides a good overview of energy efficient home construction, heplful for those who don’t know what we geeks are always nattering on about. They also provide an illustration of how reasonable construction standards can cut a power bill by 70%. The basic rules are to insulate the entire envelope, don’t cheap out on windows, and take advantage of the sun to heat in winter. It’s not hard.
