TMNT trailer.

TMNT: The Movie. I am totally seeing this. Hell, I owned the soundtrack to the first one and I beat the arcade version of the videogame when I was 12. Remember, turtle fans, the NES version of the game really sucked, but the arcade version was awesome radical, so don’t confuse the two when downloading ROMs. (Via Mandy)

  1. So um… This is about to get really dorky, but not only do I concur with your opinion of the arcade vs. NES versions, having beaten both, but a long while back, a roommate of mine had a soundtrack put out by the TMNT Band. Apparently either before the first or second movie as part of their promotional bid, they toured the U.S. as a faux band, with songs such as “Coming out of our Shells.” There were songs for every main character of the series. It was fantastic, in that terrible sort of way.

  2. Yes, I remember seeing the ads for the ‘coming out of our shells’ tour. I thought that was after the first movie?

The first movie was totally bodacious. Dude. But the sequels were terrible. I think it was the appearance of Vanilla Ice that really heralded the end of that particular franchise. I guess it’s been enough time that they could take a fresh look at it. Based on the teaser trailer it seems like maybe they’re gonna keep it closer to the orginial Eastman & Laird comic books than previous interpretations? That would be nice.

I’m rooting for an appearance of Cerebus.

  3. Hey, thanks! T-U-R-T-L-E Power! Now, playing the arcade game in an actual arcade rocked. But we also owned a copy for NES, which while not quite as good, was still like totally [g]nArLeY, dude. I’d like to see a CGI “Krang“. Let’s be honest: that would be totally creepy.

  4. Hey Waldo, come on over. I’ve got the Coming out of our Shells Tour on VHS. The soundtrack that came with a special at Pizza Hut is around here too, but I’m not sure the Casset still works.

Oddly, I’m not that thrilled about the film. The years leading up to this talked about it being OLD SCHOOL comicbook TMNT. Now it’s just softy turtles fighting space monsters. I want my Oroku Saki action!

In other words… yeah, I’ll probably be there opening day. GO NINJA! GO NINJA! GO!

I missed the boat on those. People had told me about them and I’ve seen a few pages, but if what you say is true, than perhaps those people didn’t know what they were talking about.

The sequels are bad, but Secret of the Ooze has that camp to it which made so many mid 80s to mid 90s New Line kung fu peices of crap fun to grow up with.

All I get to say is that Raphael better say, “DAMN IT!” That rocked my five-year-old world.
