These things are definitely one example of bad design, that doesn’t actually do anything to help us navigate, but are very visually distracting, so I’m happy to be able to turn them off.

you guys must have some extra juice, when I click the disable nothing happens. The FAQ disable doesn’t work for me either.

I really, really hate these things.

And personally, I just added snap.com to my Adblock Plus blocklist (excellent Firefox extension.)

Perhaps, Waldo, that URL should have the querystring disable_spa=1, instead of enable_spa=1. (I think I see how that happened — the deactivation notice includes a link to reactivate, and the reactivation notice includes a link to deactivate.)

Interesting discussion, I am reworking my entire site to add AJAX functionality. I added the Snap previews the other week because I found them amusing (you know, for kids). I don’t find them annoying at all although I am not sure that they are actually useful. I would love to see some kind of numbers or get some feedback from readers on whether or not people find them annoying in general.

I don’t personally find them useful (I don’t know what value I’m supposed to get from a postage-stamp sized GIF of a webpage), but since they’re so easily disabled I see no reason to complain.

Are users finding these annoying? When I first stumbled across them, I thought it was pretty cool and added it to my site. But if there are users having problems with snap preview, I’d really like to know.
