Malkin’s learning opportunity.

Michelle Malkin is furious because three religious extremist terrorists have been sentenced to death after being denied a fair trial. Baffled? Then I should mention: the terrorists are Christian, and the country is is Indonesia. Let’s all point and laugh at her hypocrisy, shall we?

  1. Waldo, three men are about to be put to death. This is in incredibly poor taste, regardless of their actions, and you are using it simply to get a laugh at someone you disagree with. Shameful.

  2. Can you tell us again where the hypocrisy is? Has Malkin advocated executing non-Christian terrorists without a fair trial?

  3. Seeking “justice for all” will require us to first lay down self interest and American exceptionalism as a mode of foreign policy. I sorely want fair trials for suspected terrorists whether they are held in Indonesia or Guantanamo Bay Cuba.

  4. No one is going to say anything more about the obvious hypocrisy involved comparing Malkin’s statements with her previous statements? (other than Sam, who has blinders on)

Has Malkin advocated executing non-Christian terrorists without a fair trial?

(Yes, Sam, she has, and I am not providing a link because you can look it up as easily as I can.)

That’s intellectually dishonest. And this post is not out of line, it is the starting point for a discussion. Waldo, in my opinion, is not reveling in death, he is pointing out that some people seem to be ok with putting to death those who are not like them, while, like Malkin, decry the deaths of persons she likes, namely Christians.

Duane, you said the magic word on detainee trials: fair. We can hope.

  5. Whoa, hold your horses Waldo. Where did I say that I am opposed to the death penalty? Read my post again and tell me where it explicitly says that.

I am all for the death penalty. However, it is a topic I take very seriously, and believe it should only be used in the most serious cases. I never find it a subject of humor, whether involving the people who are being punished or anyone concerned with the case. I look at people who will receive the death penalty and wonder why they wasted their whole life. Regardless, I believe that murderers, child molesters, and rapists should all be eligible for capital punishment.

And if what is written there about President Bush is true (looks like hearsay, whereas here it is definitely from the horse’s mouth), he has made just as large of a mistake. But what is worse is now you are trying to say “he did it so I can”. Please Waldo. Apologize, or stand by your words, don’t make excuses.

  6. No, what Bush did was totally disgusting, openly mocking the desperate pleas of a woman being put to death. I’m making fun of Michelle Malkin’s hypocrisy, not terrorists being given the death penalty. You’re only upset because I’m doing so in the proximity of the death penalty. If I may apologize in the style of Dick Cheney, I’m sorry that you’re offended.
