One reply on “Navy SEAL captured.”

  1. I read about this yesterday, and I can’t wrap my head around it. Besides the fact that he’s American and a former SEAL, it’s not like he was filming a documentary on Muhammad or Islam or Al Qaeda or Terrorism or Arabs-Hate-USA or anything potentially sensitive or compromising to the US or the “fight on terrorism.” Rather, the focus of his documentary is on Cyrus, a notably benevolent leader who is quite revered in history.

Cyrus was responsible for what is considered the first charter of human rights. As the liberator of the Jews, he also holds religious significance in the Hebrew Bible. Additionally, Cyrus is the only non-Israelite to be granted the title of “anointed one,” or “Christ.” Cyrus wasn’t a bad dude — he was good people! I don’t know what in this filmmaker’s documentary could have contributed to his being detained.

    Random funfact:
The Hebrew Bible refers to both David and Cyrus as “Messiah.” After visiting Israel and thinking he was granted revelatory knowledge, a handyman named Vernon Howell believed he was the Messiah and changed his name to “David Koresh.” “Koresh,” is the Hebrew word for “Cyrus.”

    Random funfact (part deux):
The year before the Mount Carmel siege & raid, Billy Ray Koresh, er, Cyrus, spent 17 weeks (a third of the year) at the top of Billboard’s charts with his album “Some Gave All,” boasting the smash hit, “Achy Breaky Heart.” America, fuck yeah.
