Those dear old trail days.

I really wanted to go to the RVABlogs Meetup on Saturday, but it’s the same weekend as Trail Days, down in Damascus. And what with the six hour drive between the two, it’s one or the other. This year is the tenth anniversary of my hike of the Appalachian Trail (and, incidentally, last month was the tenth anniversary of this blog), I can’t miss the big annual thru-hiker festival. I haven’t been since 1998.

Y’all Richmond bloggers make sure you go to the par-tay. I’ll be spending Friday-Sunday in SWVA with my stinky hiker friends.

  1. Ah, but the excuse you gave me had something to do with a NOVA book signing… Hmmm….

Well, I was thinking that I had to pick between the “Crashing the Gate” event up in Alexandria or Arlington or one of those Northern Virginia places that I can’t tell apart. But it turned out that I could attend both that and the Richmond gathering, provided that I left the former early and arrived to the latter late. But then I remembered Trail Days, and that trumped ’em both. :)

I’ll catch ya at the Summit (hopefully).

Hell yeah. And I intend to come to any future Richmond blogger gatherings, too. I hope there are more regional events like this.

  2. Wish I knew you were at Trail Daze. Just got back my own self! Where did you stay? In the Tent City? I spent time out there Fri. & Sat. AM in the Billville neighborhood, but actually stayed with a friend in nearby Tennessee. Skipped the Parade tho. All in all not a bad weekend. The hike-in from the North Mon.-Thurs. was wet and cold (snow flurries, 28 degrees on Whitetop Mt. Tues. night) but no complaints. Met quite a few who were doing the same thing.

So tell us about your own Trail Daze experience…
