Virginia political blog aggregator.

I find it hard to keep track of all of the Virginia political blogs. There are just so many. Sometimes I want to just be able to glance over ’em and get the pulse of things. At other times there’s a blog I want to visit, but I just can’t remember its name. So I decided to scratch that itch.

Presenting Virginia Political Blogs. Every Virginia political blog, all in one place. Their last sixty blog entries listed. Sucker for punishment? Add ’em all to your RSS reader. Or, if you prefer, add them all individually via OPML.

Not among the 85 blogs listed? My apologies. Send me your URL and I’ll add it.

  2. I should mention that my having forgotten a blog doesn’t indicate anything one way or the other. My head is spinning both literally (I haven’t kicked this illness yet; its defining symptom for the past two days has been an overwhelming dizziness) and figuratively, with all of the blogs I pawed through last night in compiling this list. Frankly, I’m surprised I remembered to include my own blog.

D’oh. I just realized I forgot one of my blogs. See?

  3. Damn you Waldo. I had just whittled down my blog reading to less time than I spend sleeping each day.

A pox upon you! Oh wait, you’ve probably already had that in the last week or so … hmm, what’s a nasty blogosphere curse … ah!

May your links return 404s, may your comments dry up like a desert, and may your server become a Republican!

  4. any hope of getting the aggregator to update more than once every 3 hours? Or would that eat up too much bandwidth?

I may well increase the update frequency, but the problem is just as you describe. I have the bandwidth for it, but not every blogger will appreciate having their site polled too often. Blogger, in particular, will ban aggregators that poll too often. I worry that polling 48 Blogspot sites every hour might be enough to warrant banishment. OTOH, there’s only one way to find out… :)

  5. Waldo… You did this while you were ILL????

Yeah, yeah, I understand that for a web-wizard it’s not a terribly HUGE set-up problem, but *dang!* LOL When *I’m* sick, everybody better bring me offerings in a servile and obsequious manner – God forbid I should do something for others…. ;-) *snicker*

Thanks again, and I hope and pray you’re feeling completely healthy very soon!

Go for it! But then again – I don’t want you to get banned :(

Doesn’t Lefty Blogs poll every 20 minutes or something?

On your request, I’ve set it to poll every two hours until I can find out a) how well the caching works on this aggregator and b) what sort of frequency that Blogger will tolerate.

  8. Thanks Waldo. Now just one more question: can you take a look at the feed for SW Virginia law blog? I’m not getting the title of the posts there in the feed, just the name of the blog. Thanks!

  9. Everything appears fine with Steve’s feed (I’ve subscribed to it for a couple of years now), and it shows up without problem on the aggregator’s web page. I’m afraid that I’m not sure what the source of the problem is, since I can’t duplicate it.
