"Virgil looks Goode today."

Charlottesville blogger Anne Metz writes:

When I was a page in Washington, I had the opportunity to hang out with Virgil Goode on a number of occasions in the cloak room. Here are some interesting facts: He likes peanut butter sandwiches; he liked to pretend to flirt with the middle-aged Jehoviah’s witness who ran the snack bar.

Another thing you might not know about him is that, politics aside, he’s kind of cute. One of the pages, Miss Shayla Canty, from Anacostia, DC had a MAJOR crush on on the distinguished Congressman. Whenever the Democratic pages would get a errand from his office (remember, he was a D back in 1996), she would immediately take it, no matter how worthless the run was in light of our tally/reward policy. And if it so happened that it was your turn to do the run, she would yank the little run slip out of your hand and scream, “I’ve got VIRGIL’S office!”

When she would return from his office, she would always come back and say, “Virgil looks GOODE today.”

At one point, she even requested a signed photo of him from his press secretary. The press secretary was, of course, more than happy to fill the request. It read, “To Shayla, Best Wishes, Virgil Goode.” Shayla soon had the photo framed, which she kept in her room for the remainder of the semester.

I think that’s a nice story. And I don’t know about you, but I needed a unicorn chaser after that last one.
