Barton Hinkle takes on Bob Marshall.

In yesterday’s Richmond Times-Dispatch, conservative columnist Barton Hinkle did what I’ve been calling on Republicans to do for years now: call out Bob Marshall as the authoritarian nutjob that he is. Hinkle points out that Marshall’s bills are in no way conservative — Marshall wants a totalitarian state. He’s not “pro-family” or even “pro-life” — he’s just crazy.

Hinkle isn’t sure that House Republicans are up to the task of calling Marshall out, and distancing themselves from the guy. I think he’s right. Republicans need to stand up and say, in no uncertain terms, that they do not support “Marshall’s willingness to wield the coercive power of the state to abrogate fundamental rights,” as Hinkle puts it, that they reject Marshall’s vision for Virginia, and that they do not regard him as one of their own.

I’ve offered plenty of warnings, but here’s one again: Democrats are going to tie Bob Marshall to Republican Delegates come 2007 elections. Either y’all cut him loose, or we’ll make sure that he pulls you down with him.

  1. In a perfect world, the Dems will take a commanding majority in the GA, but Bob Marshall will retain his seat.

You gotta love the entertainment value.
