I’m disappointed that there is no one on the list from far Southwest Virginia. There are only two from SWVA, period, as far as I can tell.

Oh well, that’s more evidence that I should have applied, I suppose.

Sorensen was disappointed that there weren’t any applicants from Southwest Virginia.

I figured as much. That’s a huge time commitment when you’re so far away from most of the meetings.

Waldo-
Many thanks for the congratulations. However, one small point of discontent. If we get to know each other (and I sincerely hope that we do-as I am an avid reader of your blog), you will discover that I am not vain about much. But-I do appreciate my name being spelled correctly. I would be forever endebted if you would correct my first name to read Claire instead of Clarie. Thanks much. Claire

My apologies, Claire — “Clarie” isn’t merely a misspelling, it’s a name that is decidedly not yours. I’ve corrected accordingly. Again, congratulations on your admission — you have a great, exhausting year ahead of you.

None from Henry County/Martinsville. Why am I not surprised? Is there a way to discover if there were any of my neighbors who applied an not accepted?

Same problem as SWVA, Alton — not enough applicants. It’s frustrating.

FYI, Sorensen has a Danville/Southside Leaders Training Program, their only such program in the state, but that is not intended to replace Political Leaders Program, only supplement it.

I would love to see folks like y’all in SWVA and Southside tell more folks about the program, encourage talented leaders to apply, and if you can come up with a dozen or so people, I bet Sorensen would even host a small event in your area a month or so prior to the next application period, in November. (I can’t speak for Sorensen, of course.)

I wanted to apply, but couldn’t justify the time away from my family, especially my young children. If it were closer, geographically, I could have made the sacrifice.

That’s what I get for living out here in beautiful Southwest Virginia. :)

Debbie Allen is a champion of the Forest, VA area and especially the schools in Forest. I am a strong Democrat. She is a moderate Republican. I have the utmost respect for her and I know she will be a great member of Sorensen.
John Lawrence will be elected Lynchburg’s Dem Committee Chair next week. He IS THE BEST!!!!!
What fun you will all have!

Martha,

I’m now wondering if Mrs. Allen might have an ambition for public office now. For me, the thought is scary, but if that’s who her district wants, so be it. It’s too bad there weren’t any conservative Republicans from Bedford able to sit by her side in this course.

I’ll try to keep a closer eye on her, as our mass meeting isn’t but a few months away.

Why don’t YOU apply to attend Sorensen and learn a little bipartisanship?
