RT-D reports on Goode’s MZM troubles.

In today’s Richmond Times-Dispatch, Peter Hardin reports on the increasing attention that Rep. Virgil Goode is receiving for the contributions that he’s received from MZM, Inc. It’s not an investigative article, so there’s no new information. There is a good quote from VADP spokesman Kevin Griffs, who said that MZM “was indeed in the business of buying influence in Congress. That certainly raises some serious questions about anyone who received a large sum of money from that organization, from that company.” But the best quote of all comes from Fifth District Republican chair Tucker Watkins, who said that “Virgil Goode is as clean as the newly fallen snow.” Not a good defense, but it’s solid PR. (Of course, if Goode gets into any trouble for this, I intend to repeat that quote over and over and over again.)

The Danville Register-Bee ran the story today, too, with a helpful link to Open Secrets.
