The reason he was so much tougher on Kilgore was because he wouldn’t answer a single question put to him and it was insulting.

If Kaine had been as spiteful, divisive, and shifty, Russert would have crushed him too.

Thing is Kaine ACUTALLY ANSWERED THE QUESTIONS HE WAS ASKED.

What does it tell you about how a guy will be when he’s Governor and he won’t asnwer a simple question. Does that inspire faith in you? Does it make you think, “hey, after he’s elected, he’ll suddenly get really articulate and honest.”

We don’t know much about Jerry Kilgore, but we do know that he won’t answer a simple question, and that he WILL LIE… oh! and that his office and his family have been targets of criminal investigations that resulted in indictments.

Does Kilgore have the character to inspire our faith?

That’s the totally amazing thing. Kilgore has screwed this up so badly that he’s taking Kaine’s single worst issue and managed to be even weaker on it.

Kilgore’s whole “that’s hypothetical” excuse is total bullshit. The idea of him as governor is hypothetical. Every question that he’s asked is a hypothetical, premised on the assumption that he’ll win the election. Cherry picking which hypotheticals that he wants to answer is just plain silly.

3. I might ask a similar question of Tim Kaine. He’s religiously against abortion, but will not stand in the way of it? I don’t get it.

I am glad Russert sustained the question of abortion–the panel didn’t ask these things to get irrellevant rambles. They asked the questions to get answers. Oddly, Kilgore never did end up asking the Abortion question–remember, by restating the question “hypothetically,” Russert was giving Kilgore the opportunity to get out the hole he dug for himself (nobody forced Kilgore to dig it deeper).

But it all still begs the question–why the heck is Kilgore so touchy about intelligent design and abortion?
