I’m glad to see that President Bush has made a recess appointment of John Bolton as ambassador to the UN. It’s such a foolish overreach on his part that any damage done to the United States’ world standing as a result may well be worth the hit that Bush and Republicans will take for this.
Midterm elections, here we come.
Ambassador Bolton’s got what it takes to put himself about a bit at the UN. Oh, except that nagging little “advice and consent of the U.S. Senate” thing.
Democracy at home is just so messy. It was George W. who waxed nostalgic that dictatorship is easier–as long as he’s the dictator. Over-reach is understatement. And there’s more bad than good news in that, I’m afraid. afraid.
