MP3: “Always Trust the People”

Presenting the first song to come out of the debate audio, “Always Trust The People.” It features the hypnotic stylings of Jerry Kilgore, in an effort to remind people that Jerry Kilgore trusts the people. He always has, and he always will.

Beautiful. I think we should do more of these.. It’s a good way to publicize the debates. Also, “always have, always will” is totally the new catch phrase.

Beautiful. I can totally see a whole market for “always have, always will” anti-Kilgore swag…. t-shirts… bumper stickers… podcasts if you do more… a cafepress store…

*coughs* Sorry. Lowell asks me to come up with ideas for his site and look what happens. :D Nice meeting you at the Obama event.

[...] Third, there was the debate that Kilgore hoped and prayed you’d never see or hear about. Unfortunately for Jerry “the Duck,” audio recording was allowed at the Greenbrier (although the Kaine campaign was prohibited from using it by the Kilgore crew, which said that was a “deal breaker”), and bloggers like Waldo Jaquith are having a field day mercilessly (and hilariously) mocking Kilgore’s own words, all set to sweet, sweet music. As I predicted here, people would turn against Kilgore “when diligent reporters [took] the time and effort to analyze Jerry Kilgore’s misstatements and outright lies.” And that’s exactly what it looks like is happening. No wonder Jerry Kilgore’s been in hiding most of this campaign – he DOES NOT trust that the voters of Virginia will LIKE him once they get to KNOW him. For once, I agree with Kilgore on something. With his bizarre mannerisms, strange attitudes, irresponsible and ill-conceived proposals, “Ned Flander meets Mr. Rogers” voice, and corrupt family background, why would anyone – except for a hard-right Republican – even consider voting for this guy? Especially when Mark Warner’s right-hand man is right there, ready and able to pick right up where Warner’s “AAA” record left off? Is this a “no brainer” or what? [...]

“Always trust the people.” I loved Kilgore’s elsion between “always trust the people” and the presumption that therefore the people should trust him. But if enough people heard the debate, I doubt they’d give the debate nod to Kilgore. He spouts more buck passing than clear answers about how he’d lead. I read teh transcript and found him to be laughable–except for the fact that a major party has let me run as their leader. He’s an empty vessel. All he offered were platitudes and personal attacks. Hmmm… I think he’s been schooled in the GW Bush “compassionate heart,” “trust me,” then “stick it to the voters method of leadership.

Oops. Typing too fast for my own good. (Must be a Freudian slip.) I meant a major party let him run. And given how nasty some of the personal attacks have been , we are lucky anyone runs. I sure wouldn’t (not that I’m qualified anyway). So, I give a lot of credit to Kaine for trying to save us from the Kilgore’s of the world.
