Sample of Kilgore’s speech.

I’ve extracted an audio clip of Virginia Attorney General Jerry Kilgore speakingavailable for download as an MP3. It’s a brief sample from NBC 12’s December 8 story about the debate between him and Lt. Governor Tim Kaine. Please give a listen, and feel free to host it elsewhere or pass it around, if you’re so inclined. I’m mostly curious whether readers find his speech pattern to be as remarkable as I and some others do. If so, might it have any effect on voters’ perception of him or even electability? My feelings on the matter are clear, of course.

Thanks to Cari for the pointer.

Thanks for the audio clip. You are exactly right about his voice. I had heard his brother, Terry, speak several times – but never Jerry. Now I see why that was the case.

Interesting, and our congressman (Virgil Goode) sounds like Forrest Gump. I think both are examples of the classic Virginia accent gone bad.
